Check your employer's contributions

Some employers increase their contributions if you increase the monthly amount you put aside as well. Check to see if you are getting the maximum contribution your employer offers, if not think about if you can afford to increase your contribution to take advantage of the extra your employer will add.

Make extra personal contributions

A pay rise is often a good time to increase your contributions to your pension. Or you may be able to make a one-off payment to your pension from a work bonus. If you are already receiving the maximum employer contribution these payments will not be matched, but they still benefit from tax relief., so your money gets a boost.
